An elderly driver was injured after crashing through a coffee shop on Thanksgiving night in Los Gatos, California, according to police.
The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department said in a statement Friday that officers were called to the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company just after 9 p.m. on Thursday night.
The driver, who was identified as a 90-year-old resident of the Northern California town, was extricated from the vehicle by responding firefighters. He was then transported to an area hospital in "serious but stable condition," police said.
A photo from the scene shows the car, a black sedan, inside the business with severe damage to the building.
Police said in a statement that alcohol may have played a role in this incident, but all factors are being considered as part of the ongoing investigation.
The coffee shop was closed and unoccupied at the time of the crash and the driver was the sole occupant in his vehicle, police added.
